High Tech Grower
Design discovery for living systems.
High Tech Grower is not primarily a gardening blog. It's not primarily an ecommerce store, an experimental research platform, or a solarpunk site. It's a visual discovery platform exploring how people can design better relationships between living systems, technology, places, and the built environment.
The editorial question underneath everything we publish is simple:
What would it look like if we designed more of our world to work with living systems rather than apart from them?
We want a visit here to feel less like reading a blog and more like flipping through a cabinet of possibilities — a garden leads to a building, a building leads to a product, a product leads to a maker project, a maker project leads to an idea about energetics, and none of it feels like it's left the same world. That world is the intersection of growing, technology, architecture, place, and the people building all four at once.
What we cover
Living covers biophilic design, living architecture, and indoor gardens. Grow covers gardening, farming, and the technology-forward end of growing food.Technology covers sensors, automation, and the hardware that makes a garden or a building more responsive.Energetics is our most distinctive section — atmospheric electricity, geobiology, and traditional site-selection practices, discussed with a clear eye on what's established, what's traditional, and what's still speculative. Makercovers the open-source hardware and DIY projects reimagining how people grow and build. Discover is the browsing layer that pulls all of it together — articles, projects, places, and curated collections.
How we handle evidence
Especially in Energetics, we try hard not to overclaim. We distinguish established science from research findings, from traditional knowledge, from hypotheses, from things that are genuinely disputed or speculative. The goal isn't to dismiss unconventional ideas — it's to make the status of an idea clear, so you can decide for yourself how much weight to give it. You'll see this as small labeled dots next to relevant articles, projects, and technologies throughout the site.
Our relationship to Electric Fertilizer and EGA
High Tech Grower is a broad discovery platform — it exists to help youdiscover the intersection of living systems, technology, and place. Its sister site, Electric Fertilizer, goes deep on one specific corner of that world: electrical and energetic approaches to plant growth. Its educational arm,EGA (the Energetic Growers Academy), is where you go to actually learn the subject in a structured way. We link to both only where the connection is editorially earned — you won't find them pushed on the homepage or buried in the navigation.
Editorial integrity
Some links on this site are affiliate links, and some content is produced in partnership with sponsors — both are always labeled. Our principle is simple: commerce should support discovery, not control editorial judgment. A manufacturer or partner can pay for visibility. They cannot purchase a favorable conclusion. Read the full policy on our affiliate disclosure page.
Who writes this
High Tech Grower is written and edited by a small group of contributors — architects, growers, makers, and researchers. If you'd like to pitch a piece or partner with us, see ourcontact page.
